Oranges are a popular snack in between, especially in winter. Your bowl does not belong in the trash.

In winter, many people attach great importance to a diet rich in vitamins in order to defy the low temperatures and the associated diseases. The orange is one of the most important vitamin C suppliers. Your bowl usually ends up in the garbage can after consumption. It would not only be good for the environment if we recycled them instead. These tips show how the orange peel can be processed further.

Orange peel in the kitchen

Not only the flesh of the orange is suitable for consumption. Thoroughly washed orange peel can also be used in the kitchen. Suitable for the Christmas season, you can use them for a homemade fruit tea. Simply pour hot water over the fresh or dried bowl.

Orange peel can also be used as a spice. Chopped up with a slicer or kitchen grater, it gives baked goods and spice mixtures a fresh note. In the mixer, the orange peel is also turned into a vitamin-rich powder, which is an excellent addition to morning muesli.

All-rounder in the household

Orange peels are a versatile tool in the household. For example, their refreshing scent can be used by rubbing unpleasant smelling kitchen items with them. The oven can also be processed in this way.

If you hang some orange peel in your wardrobe, you will also keep annoying moths away. In conjunction with vinegar, the outer shell of the oranges is also used to create a homemade all-purpose cleaner. Thanks to the acids it contains, it can also remove lime stains.

Valuable for personal hygiene

For the sake of the environment, orange peel can also be recycled as a personal care product. By chewing, for example, they help against bad breath. However, it is not advisable to do this too often, otherwise your teeth could suffer.

The white inside of the orange peel contains essential oils that can be used to treat blemishes by gently rubbing them.
