Bethesda has decided to celebrate the eighth anniversary of Wolfenstein: The New Order by offering the PC version on the Epic Games Store. Rush over it.
Since the launch of its Store, a competitor of Steam, Epic Games has become accustomed to offering video games without any consideration. And until June 9, 2022, at 5 p.m. French time, it is possible to recover Wolfenstein: The New Order — an FPS published by Bethesda.
The company wishes to celebrate the eighth anniversary of Wolfenstein: The New Order, an opus that allowed the cult saga to rise from its ashes. The timing does not seem trivial: on June 12, Bethesda will hold a conference with Microsoft. Will a new Wolfenstein be formalized? We can believe it.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is one of the best FPS of recent years
Wolfenstein: The New Order is quite simply one of the best FPS of recent years. It is based on a fairly simple principle: to cause a lot of satisfaction by eradicating Nazi soldiers – the absolute evil – in a dystopian universe (an alternate future where the Germans would have won the Second World War). The tone is funny, almost irreverent, but, beware, Wolfenstein: The New Order is very violent and very gore.
In terms of gameplay, the developers at MachineGames opted for a feeling very old school. The result is frontal clashes, where you don’t count your bullets against very well-equipped enemies. You can even carry two weapons at the same time, the opportunity to do very heavy damage in resolutely enjoyable sequences. Wolfenstein: The New Order feels like a guilty pleasure at times, and it’s a great way to let off steam.
Note, finally, that MachineGames has worked enough on the narration to make you want to move forward, beyond the pleasure of killing Nazis with a shovel. There is a real story to follow, knowing that a sequel, called Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, is available. Spoiler: she’s great.
