Equinor: cooperation agreement with Centrica in the UK

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Centrica to explore the development of a low-carbon hydrogen production center in Easington, East Yorkshire (UK).

The UK government recently doubled its hydrogen production ambition for 2030 to a capacity of 10 GW, at least half of which comes from electrolytic ‘green’ hydrogen.

Equinor aims to achieve almost a fifth of this national target by generating 1.8 GW of hydrogen production in the Humber region by 2028, starting with its flagship H2H Saltend project.

Centrica and Equinor expect the conversion of the Easington terminal to produce an additional 1 GW of low-carbon hydrogen production coupled with around 200 MW of demand from buyers.
