Equinor: Increase in bodily accidents over 12 months

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces Q2 2022 safety results over the last 12 months show that the frequency of serious incidents remained at the same level as in the first quarter, while the frequency of personal injury accidents is on the rise .

Thus, at the end of the second quarter, the frequency of serious incidents (SIF) was 0.5 per million hours worked over the last 12 months, against 0.4 a year earlier during the same period. Most incidents are related to falling objects, says Equinor.

In the 2nd quarter, the total recordable injury frequency (TRIF) – including serious incidents – over the last 12 months was 2.5 per million hours worked compared to 2.4 in the first quarter.

‘We haven’t been able to bend the injury curve. It’s not enough to learn from each individual incident, we also need to step up the work we do every day to reinforce a proactive safety culture,” said Jannicke Nilsson, executive vice president of safety, security and of sustainability.

In addition, ten oil and gas leaks have been recorded over the past 12 months, compared to twelve the same period last year.
