Equinor: Resumption of production at the Njord field

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces that the production of the Njord field, in the Norwegian Sea, resumed yesterday afternoon after a period of interruption linked to a modernization project which had required the return to land of the platform -offshore form and floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO).

Geir Tungesvik, Equinor’s Executive Vice President for Projects, Drilling and Supply, said ‘the Njord field will now deliver significant volumes to the market for another two decades’.

Aker Solutions had primary engineering and platform upgrade responsibility while Brevik Engineering carried out the engineering work for the FSO, which was upgraded by Aibel.

Equinor advises that ten new wells will be drilled in Njord from an improved drilling rig and clarifies that new discoveries have been made on the outer edges of Njord.

“In addition, the platform and the FSO have been prepared to receive production from two new subsea fields, Bauge and Fenja, totaling 110 million barrels of recoverable resources”, concludes the company.
