Equinor: Submits development plan for Snøhvit

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces that it has submitted a development and operating plan (PDO) for Snøhvit Future to the Minister of Petroleum and Energy on behalf of the Snøhvit partnership, providing for an investment of NOK 13.2 billion for modernization of the Hammerfest LNG plant (HLNG), in Melkøya (Norway).

The project notably involves the compression and electrification of onshore gas, which will help sustain high gas exports from HLNG beyond 2030.

Electrification from land will notably reduce HLNG’s CO2 emissions by around 850,000 tonnes per year, ‘one of the largest individual emission reduction measures for the decarbonisation of oil and gas production in Norway’. ‘, says Grete B. Haaland, senior vice president for northern exploration and production.

Under normal production conditions, HLNG delivers 18.4 million standard cubic meters of gas per day, or 6.5 billion cubic meters per year, which is equivalent to the energy demand of approximately 6.5 million European households. , or 5% of all Norwegian gas exports.
