PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The mining and metallurgical group Eramet announced on Tuesday that its subsidiary SLN (Société le Nickel) had obtained from the government of New Caledonia a new authorization to export nickel ore to height of 2 million tons.

This brings SLN’s annual export authorization to 6 million tonnes, Eramet said in a press release.

“Eramet welcomes this decision, which gives SLN the framework for action it needs to implement the mining component of its rescue plan,” the company added.

The company should exceed 4 million tonnes of exports this year. “The ramp-up to 6 million tonnes will take place until 2024”, explained Eramet.

In April 2019, SLN obtained a first export authorization for 4 million tonnes of non-recoverable ore in New Caledonia.
