Éric Antoine (The biggest karaoke in France): what did he suffer from after his heavy fall from the stage?


With Élodie Gossuin, Éric Antoine hosts Le Plus Grand Karaoké de France, a new musical entertainment concept, Wednesday June 29 at 9:10 p.m. on M6. On stage, an artist… in the audience, dozens of amateur singers and behind the scenes a jury to evaluate them.

What mechanics does this new game work on?

Eric Antoine: Several artists will follow one another on stage. In the crowd at the Théâtre antique d’Orange, there are a good thousand singers wearing headphones with a microphone that a jury of experts will listen to throughout the evening. At the rate of a hundred people per song. At first, we are in karaoke mode. Then, the songs become more complex, we go from one rhythm to another, from zouk to pop, to rap… It’s a French concept. The privilege is that thanks to this game you can sing with the artists you love!

You too, do you push the song?

No, I can’t sing well. I would have loved to be able to do that. It’s a trade perhaps easier than mine, magician! But what I love about songs is telling a story in 3 minutes. I have a real admiration for their authors.

What style of music do you listen to?

As well Eminem, them Blues Brothers that Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. I also like electro. I discover Jacques Brel to my 8 and 12 year old sons, and in the car we listen together Soprano!

Are there other planned numbers of the Biggest Karaoke?

We did two shows. I don’t know when the second will be scheduled. These are independent shows.

You are currently in the middle of filming the next season of Lego Masters. How is it going ?

It’s the marathon show. We shoot four issues in six weeks! Eight hours a day. We meet people of great patience and great generosity. Among the novelties of the next season, there are more technical and more spectacular events.

This summer, will you go on stage?

On August 8, I will play at the Ramatuelle Festival, I will go to Quebec for the festival The Big Laugh… And at the end of August, we resume the filming of France has an unbelievable talent. I’m on my 7e year. At the rate of 150 artists auditioned per season, I exceeded the 1,000 mark! It’s one of the most beautiful shows on TV, where all origins are represented…

How have you been since your fall from the Folies Bergère stage on January 16?

Better, but it took me a while to recover. I had four fractures! I fell at the start of the show and I had to hold on like that until the end.
