Eric Clapton has contracted the coronavirus. The Briton is vaccinated, but is still considered a vaccination critic in his home country.

British musician Eric Clapton (77) has been infected with the corona virus. This emerges from a post that via the star’s official Facebook account has been published. Accordingly, he tested positive shortly after his second appearance in the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 8th. In order not to endanger “his band, the crew, the promoters, their employees and of course the fans”, it was decided “with great regret” that after the concert in Zurich (May 17th) the concert for today (May 18th). ) canceled the planned appearance in Milan.

The two shows in Bologna, which are scheduled for May 20th and 21st, are still on the brink. It was “very frustrating for Clapton to have avoided Covid during the lockdown and travel restrictions period” only to contract it on his tour. However, there is hope that he will have recovered by the end of the week and that there will be no further postponements. Whether this will really be the case and when the two postponed concerts will be rescheduled should be communicated in a timely manner.

Clapton was always critical

In recent months, Clapton has repeatedly expressed criticism of the British security measures against the corona pandemic. About a year ago he reported massive side effects after his first two vaccinations and wrote verbatim in a published letter that he “should never have gone near the needle”.

Previously, Clapton drew attention to himself with a questionable action. He performed the song “Stand and Deliver” composed by Van Morrison (76), which was described by parts of the British press as a corona conspiracy anthem.
