Eric Close (FBI: missing): “I met my wife on Santa Barbara”

We knew him as a special agent in FBI: missing, broadcast at 2:20 p.m. on Warner TV, then as a politician in Nashville. The one who leads a career as a director in parallel with comedy was present at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Would you agree to play in a possible sequel to FBI: missing?

Eric Close: I would love ! I was talking about it a few days ago, with poppy [Montgomery]. The conversation did not go further than that, but I intend to contact Hank Steinberg, the creator of the series, to find out if he is interested. Obviously, we will have to see if the producer of the series, Jerry Bruckheimerwant it.

With which other actors of the series did you stay in contact?

I am still in contact with Enrique Murciano [qui jouait Danny Taylor]. I also often speak with Roselyn Sanchez [qui incarnait Elena Delgado]. A few months ago, I was making a TV movie in Connecticut and I needed a choreographer for a salsa scene. I immediately thought of Roselyn because she is a very good dancer and comes from Puerto Rico. I called her and she recommended someone great. She helped us a lot.

The other series in which you stayed the longest is Nashville, but the tone has changed over the seasons, which has had an impact on your character…

At first, it was about talking about the links between the music industry and the political world. The creator, Callie Khouri, had his vision and the channel had another. They tried to find a balance during the first two seasons, but decided, from season 3, to focus only on the music. That’s why all the storylines that had to do with my character and politics disappeared. I stayed a while Connie Britton [qui jouait Rayna Jaymes] and my character had children. But the writers ended up sending me to prison. I still came back to direct an episode.

What do you remember from Santa Barbara, where you landed your first regular role?

It was very important for my career. A rookie actor doesn’t know if it’s going to last, so getting a series regular is good for confidence. I learned a lot on this series. We shot one episode a day with sometimes 70 pages of dialogue! But it was a great time. I met my wife on this series and, twenty-seven years later, we are still married.
