Eric Zemmour at the Trocadéro: why did the Reconquest candidate quote Jean Dujardin during his meeting?

Eric Zemmour organized a meeting at the Trocadéro this Sunday, March 27. The opportunity for the candidate to make a reference to Jean Dujardin.

After leaving doubt for several weeks, Eric Zemmour has formalized his candidacy for the presidential election of 2022 a few months ago. A formalization that makes a lot of talk and the candidate has made very noticeable public appearances. During his first meeting organized in Villepinte on December 5, he was taken to task by people present in the room. However, determined to conquer the hearts of the French, the polemicist organized a second meeting, this Sunday, March 27. Thus, all were gathered at the Trocadero, facing the Eiffel Tower, to listen to the candidate for the presidential elections. During his speech, Eric Zemmour made completely unexpected references and in particular to Jean Dujardin. “Assimilation is laughing in front of Louis de Funès, Jean Dujardin or Depardieu”, he first launched before adding: “It’s crying while listening to Jacques Brel“. He also explained that it is about getting emotional. in front of the beauty of Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot. The candidate continues his speech by reciting a few lines of the poem Tomorrow, at down by Victor Hugo. Words that have been noticed.

During this meeting, Eric Zemmour spoke to those present, giving them details about his program. At first he was delighted to see so many people. “You are 100,000!”he launched before adding: “You are 100,000 to want to change the history of France“As a reminder, this meeting takes place only two weeks before the first round of elections, which will take place on April 10. This was therefore very important for the polemicist.”I chose the Trocadero to wash away the insults of the right“, he then clarified concerning the choice of this place. A reference to the meetings of François Fillon in 2017 and Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012. After having mentioned Jean Dujardin and other big names, Eric Zemmour made a new reference but this one concerned the place of his meeting.”I chose the Trocadéro thinking of Charles de Gaulle who made a great speech in 1944 just after the victory“, he explained in front of his supporters. After more than an hour of speech, he affirmed: “The surprise of this campaign is us. The reconquest is us!“, he concluded in front of the applause of the crowd.

Eric Zemmour: why is this meeting controversial?

The public appearances of Eric Zemmour are much talked about and this one is no exception to the rule. During this meeting, some supporters of the polemicist chanted “Macron assassin!” for long seconds. An initiative that has not gone unnoticed and which is already causing a lot of talk. “I’m not surprised“, launched Christophe Castaner on the antenna of BFMTV. “Éric Zemmour lets a crowd shout ‘Macron assassin’. I strongly fight the outgoing president but letting an opponent be treated as a murderer is dangerous for the Republic. This is definitely not right! That’s not my France!“, in turn, commented Valérie Pécresse on her twitter account.
