Erol Sander
TV star becomes the villain for “Alles was geht”
Erol Sander is hired as the villain in the RTL series “Alles was geht” and promises “suspense all along the line”.
Prominent newcomer to “Alles was geht”: Actor Erol Sander (52) does the honor in the popular RTL series. In his role as the unscrupulous crook Frank Giese, the 52-year-old is one of the highlights of the anniversary week, which will be broadcast from September 6th.
“First acting experience in a daily series”
“My manager has been a big fan of ‘AWZ’ for ten years and when the request came, she immediately accepted,” laughs Sander in an interview with the news agency spot on news. “But that’s perfectly fine because I trust her 100 percent and I was very happy. I am happy about this experience and challenge.”
For him it is “the first acting experience in a daily series. It was super exciting to get to know all the actors and to concentrate on doing this work.” He could even envision a permanent series role at some point. “As long as the job can be reconciled with my other commitments.”
“Tension all along the line”
He doesn’t want to reveal how many episodes Sander will be seen in “Alles was geht”, but he is already promising all fans “suspense all along the line”. Many viewers know Sander above all as the good guy, the likable guy, the lover. “But I’ve also played the bad guy a few times. It’s very important for me to play different roles,” explains the actor.
One of his best-known roles is Commissioner Mehmet Özakin from the now discontinued crime series “Murder Commission Istanbul”. “Of course I’m sad about the end of the series because the role of Mehmet Özakin has grown very dear to my heart,” admits Sander in an interview. However, the actor does not rule out a comeback. “One should never say never.”
Intense family time
Unlike many of his colleagues, Sander was also very busy during the Corona crisis. “I was very lucky here,” he appreciates. “And in the free time that I had, I underwent two knee operations and managed to move from Munich to Starnberg.” He also enjoyed the “very intense, unusual time with my family”.
The actor has been married to Caroline Goddet since 2000. After a headline breakup in 2017, the couple celebrated a surprising love comeback in 2020. They have two sons together. “In the end, the Corona crisis welded us together even more as a family,” clarifies Sander. “Our big son Marlon is studying in Paris. My wife and I took over homeschooling for Elyas together.”
“Everything that counts” celebrates its 15th anniversary
Sander appears for the first time on August 25th in “Alles was geht”. As the villain par excellence, he brings Simone (Tatjana Clasing) and Richard (Silvan-Pierre Leirich) Steinkamp, but also Justus Albrecht (Matthias Brüggenolte) into great distress. The shooting took place in the Duisburg-Nord landscape park, among other places.
“Alles was geht” first broadcast on September 4, 2006. At that time, figure skating star Tanja Szewczenko (43) was still sweeping across the ice. In the anniversary week from September 6th, fans can look forward to some exciting episodes. “Everything that counts”, produced by UFA Serial Drama, runs Monday through Friday at 7:05 pm on RTL and anytime on TVNOW.
