ESA budget: no consensus on launchers and the European constellation

DECRYPTION – The European Space Agency hopes to obtain a 25% increase in its budget over three years, to 18.7 billion euros, at the end of November.

Last straight line for the 22 member countries of the European Space Agency (Esa), before the meeting of European space ministers on 22 and 23 November in Paris. On the menu, the adoption of the Esa budget for the next three years (2023-2025). The agency proposed to its members to allocate a 25% increase in its funding, to 18.7 billion euros, compared to the previous period. This budget should be used to finance around forty program lines and be distributed among the 22 States.

For months, preparations have been going well in order to define the programs to be financed and set the priorities, in order to avoid irritating subjects on D-Day…
