Will Joost Klein be allowed to appear at the ESC? Discussions are currently underway, but one thing is now certain: he will not appear in the jury final.

Will the Dutch participant Joost Klein (26) be allowed to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 on May 11th or will he be disqualified? A final decision has not yet been made, But as the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf” reports, among others, there is at least one official interim report after the first crisis meetings: Klein will remain in the race for the time being, but will not be allowed to take part in the jury final on Friday evening.

The Dutch broadcasting company Avrotros reported this, it said. We are currently in talks with the organizer, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Avrotros sent the singer to the event in Sweden. Klein is not allowed to take part in the jury finals while investigations are ongoing. The EBU confirmed that the investigation into the incident was ongoing and that the expert jury would now watch Klein’s performance as part of the semi-final. On the day before the actual ESC, the jury evaluates the songs, which then, in addition to the audience voting, make up 50 percent of the total points at the main event.

Joost Klein is accused of this

Klein is accused of involvement in a physical altercation. Klein was there at the warm-up rehearsal on Friday afternoon. At the subsequent rehearsal, the musician who wanted to perform the song “Europapa” was already missing. As the Swedish newspaper “Aftonbladet” reports, among others, the Dutchman used violence against a TV production employee. The Swedish TV station SVT, however, reports that Klein is said to have used violence against a photographer. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
