A welcome party to the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Liverpool on Sunday. The German band Lord of the Lost also celebrated.

A big welcome party was held in Liverpool a week before the grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest. The participants walked over a turquoise carpet on Sunday afternoon (May 7th). Among them the Hamburg band Lord of the Lost, who are representing Germany this year.

Lord of the Lost on the Turquoise Carpet

ESC fans lined the carpet and waved flags, the 37 artists were greeted by Olympian Sam Quek (34) and Ukrainian moderator Timur Miroshnychenko (37). Norwegian singer Alessandra (20) was the first to step onto the carpet, where photos were taken and interviews were conducted. “I feel so comfortable here. I’m the first out and it’s an honor,” said the artist according to the “Daily Mail”.

Lord of the Lost went all black, but the turquoise eyeshadow matched the carpet perfectly. The band around singer Chris Harms (43) will perform the song “Blood & Glitter” in the finale on May 13th. Since Germany is one of the “Big Five”, they do not have to qualify in the semi-finals.

Big welcome event

This was followed by a National Lottery welcome event in front of St. George’s Hall. Artists who performed in front of nearly 30,000 people included the band Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Lightning Seeds and Atomic Kitten. Conchita Wurst (34), who represented Austria at the ESC in 2014 and won it, was also on the program. Just like the Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson (25). Highlights of the concert will be shown on BBC One on Monday.

Preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest are in full swing in Liverpool. Due to the Russian invasion, the music competition will not take place in Ukraine, but in the British metropolis. The Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won in 2022 with their song “Stefania”. The first semi-final of 2023 will take place on Tuesday (May 9), the second will follow on Thursday (May 11).
