Escape 2 on W9: is a third episode possible?

W9 is broadcasting two new episodes of “Escape, death in Venice” this evening, in which the group of friends will have to flee from a new escape game with a fatal outcome. Is a sequel possible?

After more than two years of waiting, the second part of Escape lands on W9. This Wednesday, January 25 from 9:05 p.m., viewers will be able to discover the episodes of season 2 of the fictional event, entitled for the occasion “Death in Venice”.

Broadcast for the first time in February 2021, Escape had met with great success, which had prompted the channel to order a second opus. Lannick Gautry, Barbara Cabrita, and David Mora are therefore back and find themselves, against their will, locked in a new escape game with a potentially fatal outcome.

Asked about the possibility of a third opus during a press briefing, François de Tavernost, producer of the series, replied that a sequel was possible, provided that the audiences for this double episode were satisfactory.

With this second opus, W9 creates a brand that we hope will continue.“, he thus explained. “We are the only ones to do original creation on a TNT channel and we are very happy to have done so with a franchise. If this new episode works well, we can consider making a third.

The door therefore remains open for a third season which could be very different from the previous ones. “What’s funny about this kind of film is that anything is possible. The screenwriters we work with have thousands of ideas just waiting to see the light of day“, he added.

And he does not rule out the idea of bringing in a new cast for a possible season 3 of Escape: “We could do a spin-off like the Americans do. Everything is possible, it will depend on everyone’s desire. But the universe is infinite, you just need to have a little imagination.

One thing is certain, if there were to be a third season, the actors would be ready to return to the series, provided they liked the scenario. “You have to be able to renew yourself, and it’s a big challenge”, confided David Mora, who plays Stéphane. “So why not…”.

Find season 2 of Escape this Wednesday, January 25 at 9:05 p.m. on W9. Both episodes are already available in preview on Salto.
