The Day Before is still remembered, Fntastic played well with the players by promising a MMO of survival in an ambitious post-apocalyptic world, but only launching a simple extraction shooter. The game was downgraded by the community, the developer was forced to withdraw the title from sales and close the servers, precipitating the closure of the studio. But, despite this great scam, Fntastic still not dead.
Here it is now Fntastic 2.0adorned with a new logo, which publishes its “ recovery plan ”, based on honesty, transparency and professionalism. The studio declares on X (ex-Twitter) that “Everyone deserves a second chance” and apologizes again for The Day Beforetaking “full responsibility for what happened”. But for what purpose? Well Fntastic just launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in order to raise money to develop Escape Factoryhis new game. Described as a escape game cooperative for 4 to 8 players and based on physics, the title seems much less ambitious than The Day Before and maybe has potential. A page Steam with a demo is already online, but players have learned their lesson.
Fntastic asks for €13,995 to finance Escape Factory, but has only raised €2,025 so farthanks to 39 generous contributors. Suffice to say that players no longer have confidence in this studio and do not want to waste time, Escape Factory would be released at the end of 2024 on PC, one year after The Day Before…if the campaign is a success, which does not seem likely to happen given the trend. At least, thanks to Kickstarterif the campaign is a failure, donors will be automatically refunded, but Fntastic will sink into oblivion.
