Escape from Tarkov on Steam: Beware, a fake game page is scamming you

Many productions remain independent, especially in terms of marketing, shunning famous platforms such as Steam or the Epic Games Store. Sometimes, after a while, developers decide to make their game available on one of these stores, especially to promote it a little more. This is for example the case ofEscape from Tarkov, which is only available through the official website. The game’s page ended up on Steam, however.

A fake Escape from Tarkov page on Steam

Players prefer to wait for a game to be released on their favorite platform before purchasing, and they could fall into the trap of this fake EFT page, posted at the end of December 2022. By taking a quick look at it, we quickly realize that it isa fake pagewhich was probably not commissioned by Battlestate Games, developer and publisher of the FPS.

First, the PC configurations mentioned do not correspond to those displayed on the site, which are well below the necessary system, especially at the level of the graphics card. The configurations presented correspond to the first recommendations when the game was released, which have since evolved. In addition, and contrary to the legislation imposed by Valve, it is not indicated that it is a beta or an early access productand none of the different versions, giving access to more content than just the game, are offered for sale.

Finally, when we look at the ratings left by users, all indicate that it is a “scam”, by which we mean a scam. It is therefore very unlikely that this is a real page and it should be deleted very quickly, to prevent other people from falling into the trap.

Will Escape from Tarkov be released on Steam?

For now, no release on Steam is planned for Escape from Tarkov. The developers have managed to build a very nice, involved community, without the help of a third-party platform. Obviously, the arrival on Steam, or on the Epic Games Store, could be a boost, but these two platforms take commissions on sales, which Battlestate Games does not necessarily want. Whatever happens, if EFT were to make itself available on another medium, an official announcement would take place and it would not be done on the sly.
