It’s not going anymore for Shkodran Mustafi. The soccer world champion of 2014 hasn’t been able to get back on his feet in a long time. Retired at Arsenal, relegated with Schalke and now possibly also with Levante. To make matters worse, he becomes the victim of a robbery in his villa.
Shock for the Rio world champion Shkodran Mustafi. The defender was robbed in the night from Sunday to Monday at his luxury property in Bétera, Spain, reports the local newspaper “Levante”. According to the report, the three perpetrators entered the villa via a balcony, where Mustafi was also staying at the time.
The perpetrators, masked with balaclavas, could have worked out a plan for the break-in based on the player’s social media activities, the Guardia Civil suspects. There you can see that Mustafi’s property is only separated from an adjacent golf course by a simple fence. These pictures could have given the burglars the decisive clues.
The perpetrators are said to have stayed in the house for around half an hour without Mustafi noticing them. The former national player is said to have already filed a complaint and reported the theft of jewelry, bags, watches and money worth almost one million euros.
Sporty things are still anything but smooth for Mustafi. After his relegation last season with FC Schalke 04, his first ever position in German professional football, the defender was drawn to the Spanish first division team UD Levante in the autumn. “It was important for me to go to a club where I am loved,” said the native of Hesse at his presentation in September 2021.
But due to a knee injury, he couldn’t really get going after a decent start. The 30-year-old was last on the pitch for 90 minutes on December 11, 2021, followed by just another 14-minute appearance in the 2-0 win over Bayern conqueror Villarreal in early April. In total, he has made twelve competitive appearances for UD Levante, who, bottom of the table with five games to go, have little chance of staying up. The world champion is threatened with the second descent in a row.
