Espire 2, the sequel to the VR stealth FPS Espire 1: VR Operative, is revealed via a trailer and images

spire 2 was therefore unveiled during the Meta Quest Games Showcase 2022 via a trailer, some information and images. It is a sequel to the first-person stealth action game Espire 1: VR Operative developped by the australian studio Digital Lode and published by the publisher Tripwire.

In the world of Espire 2, advanced military and virtual reality technologies collide, allowing Espire agents to take on the role of a super spy, remotely piloting deadly Espire spy droids Model 1 Operative from the security of the Control Theater. Set in the year 2036, Espire 2 marks the return of Espire Agent POE (Espire’s main operator). After emerging from a seven-year coma, POE is thrust back into the world of espionage as the centerpiece of Project Espire. Now, with the help of two state-of-the-art droids called “Frames” and an all-new arsenal of weapons and tools, POE must embark on a mission to eliminate the global threat posed by the deadly terrorist organization OPHIS.

Espire 2 will offer:

  • Immersive single-player campaign – Participate in missions around the world in sandbox environments designed to allow the player complete freedom in their playstyle. Sneak past guards, create distractions and think strategically to achieve your goals or go for it heads down, guns blazing. Espire 2 delivers the thrill of both stealth and action-driven strategies in every area, all presented with immersive VR technology.
  • Multiplayer co-op campaign : Players can now team up with another agent in a new multiplayer co-op campaign the gap between Espire 1 and Espire 2.
  • Control multiple Espire Frames: for the first time, players can control and switch between two Espire frames unique. Eache Frameis tailored with its own special abilities and attributes, providing strategic advantages for players to discover while playing through Espire 2’s two campaigns.
  • Unique Widgets : the full range of player tools and gadgets are now fully integrated into frames spireproviding a wide variety of accessible options for manipulating targets before they even draw their weapon.
  • Manage the play area : Hope Vision provides agents with a strategic and accessible view of the situation, allowing players to see through walls, mark enemy locations, predict patrol paths, and more.
  • Voice commands : Players can use voice commands to distract, hold and interrogate the enemy. Interrogation commands include “empty your pockets” and “where are your friends?” Espire 2 can be played without voice commands, if players prefer.
  • State-of-the-art graphics and spatial audio : Espire 2 features next-gen VR graphics and spatial audio systems that will take full advantage of the power of Meta Quest 2.
  • Stealth AI system : The stealth AI system has been rebuilt from the ground up with a focus on core stealth mechanics, enemy engagements and player agency, bringing even more depth to the variety of gameplay options Espire 2 game.
  • Immersion and presence : Thanks to the precise “arm IK” of Espire 2 system, players see their virtual forearms where their real ones would be and experience VR interactions with realistic detail.
  • Enhanced Control Theater : The technology behind the “Control Theater” is at the heart of the Espire 2’s motion and control system. Using the additional rendering capabilities of Meta Quest 2, the innovative comfort system Control Theater returns in Espire 2, with improved functionality, a new user interface, and easier accessibility. This “VR within VR” system allows complete freedom of precise movement, maintains immersion and also eliminates motion sickness for almost all gamers. the Control Theater is fully customizable to fit the player’s comfort level, right down to being able to be turned off entirely for those already comfortable moving around in VR.

spire 2 will be in English but will have French subtitles. Its release date is not yet known but it is announced for November 2022 at a price of €29.99 on the Quest Store.
