As Essential closed in 2020, part of its team came together under the OSOM banner, to ” Out of sight, out of mind (in French: “Out of sight, out of mind”). The name of the brand is pronounced like the word “awesome” (“genial”, in French).
OSOM OV1: finally beautiful bright colors!
It is therefore via the social network LinkedIn that OSOM presented the potential future colors of its OV1 (the acronym of OSOM Vault 1). Indeed, a few weeks ago, the company offered a survey on four colors: Solar Yellow (solar yellow), Borealis Green (Boreal Green), Twilight Blue (Twilight Blue), and Dusk Purple (Twilight Purple).
Among these bright colors that we see too little on the market, it is the green shade that won the survey. Nonetheless, OSOM co-founder and chief marketing officer, Wolfgang W. Muller, immediately calmed the crowds down, stating, “ We can’t promise it will hit the market, but we know it’s a possibility. “.
Launch planned for summer 2022?
After unveiling these refreshing color combinations, Wolfgang W. Muller confirmed that, unfortunately, the OSOM OV1 will not be showcased at the 2022 edition of Mobile World Congress (MWC). Indeed, he simply stated: Summer 2022 is just around the corner! “. We can therefore expect a launch this summer.
For the moment, what we know of the OV1 is quite light. It will run on Android Stock, as OSOM emphasizes privacy and wants to inherit the speed at which it rolled out its Android updates from the Essential Phone. The published photos point to a wireless charging function and good repairability.
