(CercleFinance.com) – Esso indicates that from January 20, the production units of its Fos-sur-Mer refinery are successively shut down as part of a major shutdown planned to carry out repair work. maintenance and renewal of equipment.

‘These operations have been prepared in such a way as to limit nuisances of all kinds. However, episodes of flare and noise may be observed intermittently from January 20, 2024 for approximately one week,’ the company specifies.

This major scheduled shutdown will make it possible to carry out numerous energy efficiency and thermal integration projects to reduce CO2 emissions and thus prepare the way for decarbonization of activities.

The Esso refinery in Fos-sur-Mer has an annual refining capacity of around seven million tonnes of crude oil per year, employs around 300 people and invests around 20 million per year (on average over the last five years) .
