Essonne: a motorist shot and killed by a man on a scooter

An individual on a scooter opened fire and killed a motorist this Wednesday, around 8 a.m., in Ris-Orangis, in Essonne. The Evry prosecutor’s office indicates that the suspect shot the man around ten times. According to information from Le Parisien, the victim was in a parking lot near the town’s market square. The motorist died on the spot and could not be saved by emergency services. An investigation was opened for assassination and entrusted to the interdepartmental judicial police service (SIPJ) of Essonne.

Contacted by AFP, the socialist mayor of Ris-Orangis, Stéphane Raffalli, indicates that the homicide took place on the Grigny road, near the market. “In my memory as a local elected official, I have never had to experience a situation like this,” he laments.

Two men shot dead in the street in a few days

Three days ago, another shooting took place in the middle of the street in Essonne and also left one dead. Sunday February 11, in the early evening, a 28-year-old man was killed by gunfire in Dourdan, in the west of the department. An investigation was opened for “intentional homicide by an organized gang” and entrusted to the Paris research section, said the Evry prosecutor’s office, confirming information from Le Parisien.

The aggravating circumstance of an organized gang was retained by the prosecution “because at this time, elements suggest that several people are likely to be involved”, further specifies this source. The use of a firearm can also presuppose, at this stage of the investigations, “a structure and organization in the operating mode”.
