On Sunday, the faithful of the Vigneux-sur-Seine mosque, located in Essonne, discovered the disemboweled carcass of a wild boar hanging on the gate of the place of worship. A complaint was filed the same day.

A wild boar carcass was found hanging on the gate of the mosque in Vigneux-sur-Seine (Essonne), the city’s cultural association of Muslims said on Tuesday, denouncing a “new Islamophobic act” and announcing that it had filed a complaint. “The gutted carcass” was discovered on Sunday morning “by the faithful, the guardian of the mosque and the president of the association,” Sofyane Talibi, secretary general of the association, explains to AFP, confirming information from Le Parisien.

A “horror vision” for the faithful

According to Sofyane Talibi, a complaint was filed on Sunday: “The public authorities take this matter very seriously and we have full confidence in the investigation,” he specifies. A first viewing of the mosque’s surveillance videos by its staff suggests that the carcass was left around 10:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

“This vision of horror to which the faithful, including children who came to pray peacefully, were exposed, will mark our community for a long time,” denounced the association in a press release posted on the mosque’s Facebook page.
