The race for zkEVM – The network Ethereum has long since shown its technical limits. Thus, developers have turned to various solutions to improve network performance. Among them, the second layer solutions of the Rollups type are a lot of talk about them.
ConsenSys enters the race for zkEVMs
Faced with the limitations encountered by Ethereum, developers have looked into various scalability solutions. Finally, the second layer solutions of type Rollups seem to prevail. So well, that the Ethereum roadmap has taken a rollup-centric turn.

Last December, the giant ConsenSys, known to be at the origin of Metamask and Infura, has unveiled its own zkEVM solution.
Thus, ConsenSys zkEVM, is a new zk-Rollup, designed and operated by the company. This solution is presented as having full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. In addition, this compatibility also allows the use of development and testing tools usually used by developers.

ConsenSys opens the doors to the beta of its zkEVM
At the time of the announcement of ConsenSys zkEVMthe company has revealed that the solution will be launched on the testnet as part of a closed beta.
To do this, ConsenSys invited developers willing to test the solution to register via a dedicated form.
After recording more than 150,000 registrations, the Consensys zkEVM testnet has just been launched.
“Testnet participants will be able to bridge the Goerli testnet and zkEVM to test their smart contracts, dapps using the tools, infrastructure and wallets they are familiar with. »
Thus, this testnet evolves in parallel with the Goerli testnet. A bridge between the two testnets allows developers to transfer ETH from Goerli to ConsenSys zkEVM.
As announced on the site, this full-scale test will allow ConsenSys to determine if the developers’ experience on the zkEVM has the “potential to accelerate innovation in Web3”.
ConsenSys will collect developer feedback throughout the life of its testnet, in order to plan the next steps in the development of its zkEVM.
