The EU Commission proposed Bosnia-Herzegovina as a candidate for EU membership on Wednesday. Negotiations are not to begin until the country meets the reform requirements.

(dpa) The EU Commission is in favor of nominating the Balkan state of Bosnia-Herzegovina as an official candidate for accession to the European Union. “I call on the country’s leadership to seize this historic opportunity,” said the responsible Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi on Wednesday when presenting a recommendation to the 27 EU member states.
