EU/Competition: Searches at Delivery Hero and Glovo


BRUSSELS (Reuters) – German food and grocery delivery company Delivery Hero and its Spanish subsidiary Glovo said they were the target of raids by the European competition authority on Wednesday.

The European Commission, which oversees the application of competition rules in the 27 countries of the Union, announced at midday that it was targeting companies from two member countries for suspicion of anti-competitive practices but did not not specified which were the companies and the countries concerned.

“The investigation relates to an alleged agreement or concerted practice aimed at sharing national markets for the online ordering and delivery of meals, groceries, and other consumer goods in the European Union,” it said. said the European competition authority in a press release.

Companies found guilty of breaching EU competition rules face fines of up to 10% of their overall turnover.

Delivery Hero and Glovo have said they are cooperating with European authorities.
