BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union competition authorities are expected to unconditionally approve the $28.3 billion acquisition of medical data specialist Cerner Corp by U.S. business software giant Oracle, three sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

Oracle announced this acquisition last December. It should allow it to access a vast amount of data and could attract more healthcare customers to its “cloud” platform.

The European Commission, which must rule on the transaction by June 1, and Oracle declined to comment on this information.
