Euphoria Season 3: New details about the upcoming episodes of the scandal series known

• “Euphoria” is getting a third season from US broadcaster HBO.
• This is supposed to be reminiscent of a “Film Noir”.
• However, a tragedy casts a shadow over the coming season.

Drugs, sex, more drugs and more sex. The successful HBO series “Euphoria” doesn’t mince words and always knows how to shock. While the second season was being broadcast, the US channel HBO extended it for a third season. But it still hasn’t been filmed and a tragic event shocked the cast, crew and fans.

Euphoria Season 3: Start Date

The start date of the new episodes is not yet known. There is usually about a year between two seasons. The corona pandemic caused delays, so that almost two and a half years passed between seasons 1 and 2.

Season 3 was originally scheduled to begin filming in February 2023 (via Production Weekly), but further delays occurred when the Writers Guild of America began its strike in May 2023. Shortly afterwards, actors from the Screen Actors Guild also joined the strike. So no more filming could take place.

Zendaya’s busy schedule was probably also a reason for the late planned start of filming, after all, she was filming “Dune 2” in the meantime.

Due to the strikes, the start of season 3 was originally postponed to 2025 (via TVLine). However, the launch has now been postponed indefinitely. Nevertheless, work continues on the new season.

In Germany should Season 3 starts at the same time as the US appear on Sky Ticket and Sky Go and a few months later on Sky Atlantic.

Euphoria Season 3: Plot

The season 2 finale was a hot one. Custer, who is cooperating with the police, wants to talk to Fezco about Mouse’s murder. Faye knows that Custer is working with the police and wants to prevent the conversation. Ashtray then stabs Custer.

Ashtray barricades himself in the bathroom with weapons when the police arrive. Fezco is gunned down. Ashtray kills a police officer and is then killed himself.

Nate confronts his father Cal in a gay bar about the sex videos and threatens to shoot him. Cal begs him not to do it and is subsequently arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, Cassie makes a scene for her sister Lexie in the school play. Maddy storms onto the stage, punches Cassie in the face and chases her out of the theater. The two then meet again in the school toilet and talk.

Rue remembers meeting Elliot at the school play a few days ago. Rue told Elliot she wasn’t taking drugs anymore and Elliot admitted he still did. He then played her a song about their friendship on his guitar and asked Rue if they can still be friends. But Rue reminds him that the two of them are bad for each other.

After Lexi’s piece, Jules walks over to Rue and sits next to her. She tells her that she loves her and misses her. Rue kisses Jules on the head and leaves the school theater.

“Jules was my first love. That’s how I’d like to remember her. But I don’t know if that’s really true. I think I was way too high,” Rue says at the end of the episode as she leaves school smiling. Finally, she lets viewers know that she stayed sober for the rest of the school year, although she doesn’t know if that was a conscious decision or simply easier than returning to drugs.

So in Season 3, we’ll likely find out how Fezco deals with his brother’s death and whether Mouse’s murder will have any consequences for him. However, we probably won’t see him again; his actor Angus Cloud died at the end of July 2023. We will also see what happens next between Cassie and Lexie and whether everything is now sorted out between Cassie and Maddy.

Last but not least, we will probably find out whether Rue continues to not take drugs, whether she resumes her friendship with Elliot and whether this perhaps leads to a relapse again.

From an interview with “Elle” magazine we also know that series creator Sam Levinson plans to produce the third season in the style of a “film noir”. Through Rue’s eyes, “we explore the meaning of being a principled individual in a corrupt world.”

Euphoria Season 3: Cast

Most of the main actors should also return in season 3. That means we see Zendaya (“Spider Man: Homecoming”) as Rue, Maude Apatow (“Pitch Perfect 2”) as Lexi, Alexa Demie (“Mid90s”) as Maddy, Jacob Elordi (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge”) ) as Nate and Hunter Schafer as Jules and Barbie Ferreira as Kat.

Eric Dane (“Grey’s Anatomy”) is also expected to return as Cal. We probably won’t see Javon Walton as Ashtray again. He was shot in the Season 2 finale.

However, in an interview with the industry publication Entertainment Weekly, Javon Walton suggested that you can still expect the 13-year-old dealer. When asked if he had “any hopes or wishes for Ashtray when he comes back in Season 3,” Walton replied, “I hope he realizes that drugs are not the right path for him.”

He just needs to focus on himself because he will get a new chance in life when he comes back. So he has to make the best of it. He’s a 13 year old boy in the series, he has a lot to live for.

Actually, Ashtray shouldn’t have survived the Season 2 finale after being shot in the head. But apparently the actor, who will soon be seen in the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy,” already has plans for his “Euphoria” comeback.

Angus Cloud can only appear in flashbacks as Fezco. Cloud died in July 2023 at the age of 25.
