INTERVIEW

Europe 1 was able to meet at length with the coach of the France football team, Didier Deschamps. The latter agreed to deliver some confidences. In an exceptional interview which will be broadcast in full this Friday evening from 8 p.m. on Europe 1, Didier Deschamps mentioned Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema and especially the World Cup in Qatar.

The 1998 world champion drew up a positive assessment of the year 2021, despite the early elimination of the Blues in the round of 16 of the Euro. Smiling and relaxed, the French coach underlined the great resilience of the France team, which won the League of Nations this year, but above all the qualification for the 2022 World Cup, which he believes is vital for French football.

Benzema remains “selectable”

Among the great satisfactions of “Dédé”: the exceptional performances of Kylian Mbappé. “He throws the counters in terms of statistics. He has this ability by gaining in maturity and experience to do things that are outside the norm.” In his interview to listen to this evening, the boss of the Blues did not evade any subject, including that of the conviction of Karim Benzema to one year in prison suspended in the case of the sextape. “From the moment Karim decided to appeal, this appeal is suspensive so we will have to wait for the court ruling. From there, it remains a selectable player.”

Didier Deschamps also spoke about his future. Leaving the blues after the World Cup or continuing the adventure? The coach told Europe 1 that he had not yet made his decision.
