Euro zone: Growth confirmed at 0.2% in Q3

BRUSSELS, Nov 15 (Reuters) – Economic growth in the euro zone slowed to 0.2% in the third quarter, the second estimate of gross domestic product (GDP) released by Eurostat confirmed on Tuesday.

This figure is unchanged from the initial estimate published on October 31, as anticipated by the Reuters consensus.

Over one year, the GDP of the 19 countries that have adopted the single currency increased by 2.1% in data adjusted for seasonal variations (CVS), specifies Eurostat.

In the second quarter, growth had reached 0.8% compared to January-March and 4.3% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021.

Eurostat specifies that employment in the 19 countries that have adopted the single currency also rose by 0.2% in July-September compared to the previous three months, and by 1.7% on an annual basis.

The European Commission said it expects economic activity to contract in the fourth quarter and the first three months of 2023, due in particular to the impact of soaring energy prices and rising interest rate.
