Euro zone: Industrial production falls further in November


PARIS (Reuters) – Industrial production in the euro zone fell further in November, with a marked drop in durable consumer goods, show data published on Monday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

In the 20 countries sharing the euro, industrial production fell by 0.3% month-on-month in November, showing a decline of 6.8% on an annual basis.

Economists polled by Reuters expected contractions of 0.3% over the month and 5.9% year-on-year respectively after a fall of 0.7% and 6.6% the previous month.

The monthly decline is mainly due to a 2.0% decrease in the production of durable consumer goods. Intermediate goods and capital goods fell by 0.6% and 0.8% respectively, while energy production and that of non-durable consumer goods, such as food, increased by 0, respectively. 9% and 1.2%.
