Euro zone: sharp reduction in the trade deficit in May


(CercleFinance.com) – The trade balance of the euro zone, adjusted for seasonal variations, recorded a deficit of -0.9 billion euros in May 2023, a strong improvement compared to that recorded in April (-8 Billions of Euro’s).

Eurostat, which publishes these figures, explains that eurozone seasonally adjusted exports rose 2.9% month-on-month, while imports fell 0.1%.

For the EU as a whole, the seasonally adjusted trade deficit fell from -10.6 to -2.2 billion euros, with an increase of 3.2% in exports and a decline of 0.8 % of imports.
