Eurocup basketball: in Venice, CJ Harris delivers JL Bourg at the last second

Remaining on three consecutive defeats in the Eurocup, the JL Bourg moved to Venice on Tuesday evening to stop this negative series and leave at least temporarily the last place in their group. She succeeded, winning at the last second in northern Italy (78-81).

At halftime, Laurent Legname’s men returned to the locker room in the lead (39-45), after leading by +10 (33-43, 19th). Offensively, they relied on the aggressiveness of JaCorey Williams (11 points at the halfway mark) and on the address of Pierre Pelos (10 points).

Behind the score for 24 minutes, the Reyer Venice came back tied with the Bressans (67-67, 34th), thanks to their three-point shooters (14/31 in the end). The Italian team took control with up to 3 points ahead (71-68, 36th).

The JL Bourg still had some in the engine, in particular CJ Harris (19 points), who had to redeem himself from his last transparent outings. In the last minute of regulation time, Axel Julien restored the advantage to his team (76-78), then Stefano Tonut believed to snatch the extension (78-78).

But CJ Harris managed a three-point shot at the buzzer (78-81), synonymous with the first away victory in the Eurocup this season. And even for thirteen months!

On Saturday, JL Bourg will face Cholet, 17th in the French championship, in an important duel in the second half of the table.
