Eurofins Scientific strengthens its position in transplant testing and kidney care with Ascend

(Boursier.com) — Eurofins announces the closing of its acquisition of Ascend Clinical, LLC, the largest independent renal dialysis testing laboratory in the United States. Founded in 2000, Ascend operates a state-of-the-art laboratory in Sunnyvale, California, and employs 170 people.

The company provides highly automated chemistry, hematology, microbiology and virology testing services to dialysis clinics and hospitals across the United States. The company also offers water and dialysate testing, providing greater safety to the dialysis patient community and making it easier to pass regulatory audits and investigations. “Ascend’s core competencies and customer relationships complement the Eurofins network’s extensive portfolio of pre- and post-transplant services, which will result in better and broader service offerings to customers,” enthuses the Frenchman.

This acquisition further strengthens the presence of the Eurofins network in the field of transplantation testing and associated renal care, thereby expanding its clinical clientele. Ascend, in turn, has access to Eurofins’ extensive laboratory network, analytical portfolio and established industry relationships.
