Euroleague basketball: Olympiacos overthrows Monaco

Monaco will have dominated for most of the match against Olympiacos. The Monegasques unfortunately had to bow (94-88). And were eliminated at the gates of the final.

They had however started with a bang, jostling the Greeks in their room and in front of their public, thanks to the high class performances of Paris Lee and Yakuba Ouattara, excellent at three points. Team Roca even went back to the locker room at the break with a seven-point lead, very good skill (8/10 and 44% from three points) and boosted confidence.

The Olympiacos experience

But it was necessary to suspect that the triple champions of the Euroleague (1997, 2012, 2013) were not going to be let go so easily. Within minutes they were back behind, returning to 55-55.

They talk about their experience, wearing down the Monegasques and causing mistakes to force them to slow down

Result, Lee was taken out and Mike James, with his four faults, had to take his troubles patiently.

suspense

The last three minutes were unbearable, Monaco then Olympiacos regaining the advantage, until Tyler Dorsey’s flash of genius.

In the semi-final, from May 19 to 21, the Greeks will face Efes Istanbul.

Small consolation for the players of Sasa Obradovic, they won their ticket for the next Euroleague season thanks to their qualification for the play-offs of this Champions League.

Too bad for French basketball. Only two clubs have won the supreme title in the Euroleague: Limoges, in 1993, and Asvel in 1997.
