  • Thanks to a zero number away against Leverkusen, Roma secured a place in the Europa League final.
  • There the Italians meet Seville. The Spaniards beat Juventus 2-1 at home after extra time.
  • The Europa League final will take place in Budapest on May 31st.

Leverkusen – Roma 0:0 (first leg 0:1)

AS Roma reached the Europa League final thanks to a 0-0 away draw against Leverkusen. Leverkusen were unable to make up for the 0-1 mortgage from the first leg. The “Werkself” launched attack after attack, but they were denied the redeeming goal. Moussa Diaby had the best chance of the game in the 5th minute when Florian Wirtz released it, which is well worth seeing. However, the wing only hammered the ball to the crossbar.

José Mourinho’s team presented themselves surprisingly reserved. The Romans concentrated mainly on their defensive work, which they carried out in an extremely disciplined manner. No matter how often Leverkusen attacked, Roma’s well-organized defense always had an answer ready. In the 81st minute, however, the defensive bolt could almost have been cracked. Sardar Azmoun got a shot from the penalty spot between the crowd of Roma defenders, but his shot went just inches off the post.

Leverkusen now has to buy the Europe ticket in the Bundesliga. At Roma, on the other hand, the dream of the title lives on.

Sevilla – Juventus 2-1 aet (first leg 1-1)

Seville in ecstasy: The Spaniards won against Juventus Turin 2-1 after extra time and were able to qualify for the Europa League final after a dramatic game. Erik Lamela redeemed Sevilla in the 5th minute of extra time. After a big chance from Juventus, the Spaniards countered mercilessly. A cross landed on Lamela’s head, who nodded off to make it 2-1. Juve could no longer react to the opening goal. Marcos Acuna, who was sent off with yellow-red shortly before the end, set the ugly end.

Previously, the fans had seen a competitive but highly exciting affair. Turin took the lead in the 65th minute through Dusan Vlahovic. The substitute striker scrambled through the edge of the box and lobbed past Sevilla goalkeeper Bono.

But the joy was short-lived. 6 minutes after the opening goal, Sevilla equalized through Suso. The 29-year-old got the ball on the edge of the penalty area and hammered the ball into the high left corner of the goal.
