BERLIN (Reuters) – European car registrations hit an all-time low in January as semiconductor shortages continued to weigh on sales, according to figures released on Thursday by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association ( ACEA).
New car registrations fell 2.4% in January from a year ago to 682,596 vehicles in the European Union, Britain and European Free Trade Association countries ( EFTA), the seventh consecutive month of declining sales, according to ACEA.
Car registrations vary greatly from country to country. They show an increase of 72.6% in Slovakia and 55.5% in Romania, while almost all the countries of Western Europe record a decrease, indicated the ACEA.
