The Internet by satellite is developing at high speed since mega-constellation projects are financed with billions of euros. Europe wants a common project to offer an alternative to private American solutions.

Satellite mega-constellations are a huge issue. The most popular, Elon Musk’s Starlink, is the most impressive, but it’s not the only one. OneWeb and Kuiper Systems developed by billionaires Gregory Wyler (O3b) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon) respectively are also in development, while Boeing is considering it. The Internet by satellite is developing at high speed since mega-constellation projects are financed with billions of euros.
The European Union also wants its constellation of satellites. This Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the 27 European countries agreed on a common project.
What do we know about this mega-constellations project?
In total, 6 billion euros will be released to place approximately 250 satellites in an orbit of between 400 and 500 kilometers. Behind this enormous project, we find European groups such as Airbus, SES or Eutelsat.

The launch of the project is expected for 2024, the objective is to provide high-speed Internet access in Europe and Africa.
