European Cup – Handball: Bregenz advance despite second leg score of 27:30!

Although Bregenz lost the second round second leg of the European Cup against Lithuanian champions Sviesa Vilnius 27:30 (13:19), they still managed to secure promotion thanks to their clear 32:23 win the day before!

Both matches were played in Bregenz. The third round will be played at the end of November and beginning of December. It remains to be seen whether UHK Krems will also be represented there, the first leg at Tikves Kavadarci was lost 28:33 on Sunday. The North Macedonians were already ahead 19:16 in front of their home crowd at half-time and never gave up their lead. A difficult task awaits the Lower Austrians in the second leg on Saturday (7 p.m.) in Krems. “Of course it wasn’t easy today!” The Bregenzers, on the other hand, were already celebrating their progress. “At the end of the day we can be happy with the double game weekend and look forward to promotion to the next round. Yesterday we played a very dominant game and made it clear that we are the better team. Of course, it wasn’t easy today to deliver a similar performance just a few hours later, at an unusual time,” summed up managing director Björn Tyrner.
