European Cup on stream and TV
Two world champions in the team from TVNow and RTL
Thursday at RTL in the European Cup season 2021/2022 is all about football. There are Lukas Podolski and Karl-Heinz Riedle.
Eight highlight games, including all German participants, will be shown exclusively and live on TVNow in the 2021/2022 European Cup season via single stream or in the conference. The RTL media group announced this at a press conference on August 25th. A top game with German participation will also be broadcast on free TV. Thursday evening will be all about the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Games on free TV will in future be accompanied live by presenter Laura Papendick (32), the commentator duo Marco Hagemann (44) and Steffen Freund (51) and soccer world champion Karl-Heinz Riedle (55). In addition to live games and a matchday conference, TVNow will also feature the three-part show “Matchday”, in which, among other things, goals and highlights will be presented from 5:30 pm to midnight.
“Very special festive evenings”
The format is supported by the soccer magazine “11 Freunde”. The “Matchday” team includes the moderators Arnd Zeigler (56), Anna Kraft (35) and Robby Hunke (37). She also supports another world champion, Lukas Podolski (36). The troop will meet up with surprise guests in a mobile studio, which is designed like a flat share and will debut at the start of the season in Podolski’s Strassenkicker Base.
For Riedle, matches in European competitions were “always very special evenings as a player,” he explains in a statement in a press release. He is therefore looking forward to “accompanying the German teams on their way through Europe from the coming season” and presenting the games with Papendick. Even for Podolski as a player, the evenings in the European Cup were “always absolute highlights”: “I am pleased to be able to convey this passion from an expert’s point of view and to be able to share my international experience.”
