Socialists want to present themselves as a political alternative
It will be the image of two men, of two sensibilities, united to try to present a credible alternative to those disappointed with Macronism and Mélenchonism. Also a way of calming internal tensions within the Socialist Party. Beyond the photo, it is the opportunity for Raphaël Glucksmann to emerge in this European campaign, as justified by one of his closest supporters, MEP Aurore Lalucq.
“There is a space to have fair policies. There is a space to be able to protect Europeans, from a geopolitical point of view too. So if we are not with rebellious France and if we are not with Renaissance, it’s because we have fundamental differences in the geopolitical field and in the field of industry, social, etc.”, explains the elected official.
On the one hand, questions of social justice to stand out from Renaissance and on the other, the war in Ukraine to stand out from the rest of the left. This strategy seems to be starting to bear fruit. In any case, in recent polls, the Socialist Party dominates its opponents on the left and even takes a few points from the presidential majority.
