Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / CNews / Les Échos, the deputy of Essonne and president of Debout la France, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, announced that he will launch a sovereignist list Debout la France for the elections. Europeans in 2024, without specifying whether he will be at its head or will leave his place to another political personality. “We’ll see,” he eluded.

In a tense migratory context, after the knife attack in Annecy and the sinking in Greece of a migrant boat, the sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is already thinking of the European elections. The president of Debout la France and deputy for Essonne announced on the set of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / CNews / Les Échos that his party will be well in the race in 2024: “We decided it on Saturday during of a national council, we talked a lot about it. There will be a Debout la France list. A sovereignist and Gaullist list for the independence of the country”, he declared.

“I don’t necessarily want to lead it”

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, very critical of the European Union, which he considers borrows from “a drift that goes beyond the treaties”, will present a project on September 30 to mark his break with European policies. However, he declined to confirm whether he will top the list. “We’ll see. I don’t necessarily want to lead it,” he evaded, considering other political figures. “Florian Philippot could participate, I would like very much, but not only him. There is also Michel Onfray”, mentioned the sovereignist. “You have to know how to leave room.”

For the president of Debout la France, it is essential to address the issues at European level: “Resolving French security problems, immigration problems, unemployment problems, purchasing power problems and problems of ‘ecology,’ he explains. “France has lost all independence, all freedom of action and therefore, I am convinced, we need a European project,” he explained.
