The German team trembled yesterday against Hungary 2-2 in the European Championship round of 16 – the audience ratings reached a new high.

Jogi Löw (61) and his boys determined yesterday’s TV evening in Germany with the nerve-wracking shivering game against Hungary. As the media service “Meedia” announced, saw an average of 25.74 million people the 2: 2 on ZDF. That corresponds to a market share of around. 71.4 percent. In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, an average of 10.26 million viewers saw the match in the Allianz Arena; here the market share is even higher – at 81.1 percent.

Germany finally in EM fever?

With these numbers, the EM fever seems to have finally broken out in Germany. The first game against France saw around 22 million people – the second game against Portugal only interested a little more than 20 million Germans. However, it is not known how many subscribers switched on via MagentaTV. Telekom’s streaming service also broadcasts the EM games.

The first game of the day, Spain versus Slovakia, drew a remarkable 6.25 million viewers in front of the television at 6:00 p.m. – the market share here is over 30 percent. Overall, ZDF was the big winner in the ratings race on June 23rd: On average, the broadcaster took up 38.3 percent of the market share for the entire day. With a market share of nine percent, ARD took second place by a large margin.
