European stock markets ended up sharply on Wednesday, helped by good corporate results in the United States and positive figures for German and American consumer sentiment.

Reduced trading volumes, due to the end-of-year holidays, however, tend to amplify the variations. The Paris Stock Exchange jumped 2.01% to 6,580.24 points, London took 1.72% and Frankfurt 1.54%.
