European stock markets closed lower on Thursday on the eve of the start of the results season, unaffected by the decision of the European Central Bank (ECB) to keep its key rates unchanged since the market expects a first reduction in June.

The Paris Stock Exchange dropped 0.27%, Frankfurt dropped 0.79% and London fell 0.47%.
