The European campaign is accelerating, and the gap in the polls is closing between Raphaël Glucksmann and Valérie Hayer. In a survey carried out by Harris Interactive, two points separate the Macronist candidate from the Socialist candidate. A double concern is spreading among the ranks of Macronie: that of finishing 3rd, but also of seeing the left/right divide resurface.
In Macronie, the observation is unanimous: Valérie Hayer’s candidacy is not successful. The most optimistic are reassured, the French are not yet in the campaign, confides a minister. Others, more resigned, inevitably evoke the wear and tear of a party in power for seven years. Many are counting, like five years ago, on the involvement of the head of state to mobilize his voters.

It remains that the hypothesis of a crossing of the curves with Raphaël Glucksmann is gaining momentum and could initiate the end of Macronism. The return of a pro-European left, opposed to the immigration law or the pension reform carried out by Emmanuel Macron and freed from the excesses of rebellious France, would in fact resuscitate the left-right divide.
Raphaël Glucksmann works there, as does François-Xavier Bellamy on the right. “The ‘at the same time’ was a deception”, tackles the Republican candidate who sees in the rise of his opponent on the left an opportunity to thwart the Macron-Le Pen match.
