After the ESC is before the ESC: Singers and bands can now apply for the next preliminary round.

True, find the next Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) will not take place until May 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, but preparations are already underway in this country. Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) is looking for acts who want to represent Germany.

Here is the application

Bands and artists of all genres can now apply for the German preliminary round “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Finale 2024”. Interested parties will find a corresponding form on the website “eurovision.de”. Singers have about a month. Application deadline is October 5th.

The conditions for an application are listed on the page. NDR would like to announce details of the exact selection process for the candidates at a later date. It will also be a few months before it is clear who is going to Sweden for Germany. The preliminary decision will not take place until February 16th in Berlin. The whole thing can be seen live on the first, via “eurovision.de” and in the ARD media library.

ESC final next May

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the public television company SVT announced in July that the upcoming music competition will take place in Malmö. The final of the Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The two semi-finals will take place in the same week, on May 7th and May 9th.

As is well known, the ESC 2023 last May was unfavorable for Germany. Unfortunately, the band Lord of the Lost could only take last place in Liverpool, behind Great Britain and Serbia. On the other hand, the singer Loreen (39) won again with her song “Tattoo” and brought next year’s edition back to Sweden. Already in 2012 she had been successful with the song “Euphoria” at the ESC in Baku.
