Eurowings: high demand! Prices for increased Mallorca flights "not increased"

Some of the 300 new connections launched over the weekend during the Easter holidays are already booked out again. They will add more, especially since the program announced so far only represents around 40 percent of the actually usual offer. 50 more flights to the Balearic island were already released for booking on Wednesday.

According to the Internet comparison portal “Idealo”, ticket prices for Mallorca flights around Easter have risen sharply after the announcement that vacations there will soon be possible again. In a data query on Tuesday afternoon, the portal determined an average price of 214 euros for a return flight within the three weeks of the German school Easter holidays. That was around three times the price that was announced for these tickets at the beginning of February.

More connections to Mallorca planned – but "prices not increased"

Due to the high demand, Eurowings is even planning more connections, after they had already increased significantly over the weekend. Some of the 300 newly launched connections in the Easter holidays are already booked out again. One will probably add more, especially since the program announced so far only represents around 40 percent of the actually usual offer.

"We have not increased the prices", however, clarified the Eurowings spokesman. When booking a flight, it is always the case that early bookings are cheaper than those shortly before departure. In addition, the individual connections are often almost fully booked due to the limited supply, so that only the last expensive tickets from the highest booking class are available. However, new flights are continuously fed into the system, which then start again at the entry price.

Other airlines are also announcing an expanded offering

Other companies such as the parent company Lufthansa, Condor, Tuifly or the Irish Ryanair had also announced additional flights to the holiday region after the corona travel warning for the Balearic Islands and some other areas was lifted on Sunday. German vacationers no longer have to go into quarantine after returning.
