Eutelsat’s Konnect satellite wins a new customer in sub-Saharan Africa

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Satellite operator Eutelsat announced on Thursday that it has signed with Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a company belonging to the pan-African group Cassava Technologies, a multi-year agreement for the deployment of broadband services in Uganda, South Sudan South and eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the terms of this agreement, Liquid will use the resources available on board the Eutelsat Konnect satellite to expand its portfolio of affordable Internet services in territories that are insufficiently served by terrestrial networks.

A long-time partner of Eutelsat, Liquid will also host Eutelsat Konnect’s first ground station in sub-Saharan Africa. Located in Krugersdorp in South Africa, this station will allow Eutelsat to expand the regional coverage of its resources and create new business opportunities by offering broadband access services with increased performance.

On the Paris Stock Exchange, the Eutelsat share rose 1.2% to 9.16 euros.
